A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has warned leaders of the opposition coalition, African Democratic Coalition (ADC), against making reckless statements capable of destabilising the country.
Oyintiloye, who disclosed this in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Sunday, subsequently cautioned that utterances and unguarded actions due to the search for power should be avoided.
The ex-lawmaker alleged that many opposition leaders have started causing unnecessary tension across the country with their utterances, even though general elections are still two years away.
“The tension being generated in the country is becoming worrisome. The statement credited to former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, calling for violent protests for a change of government ahead of the 2027 elections is unpatriotic.
“What the country needs at this point in time is to consolidate on the gains of democracy and not to create unnecessary agitations that could lead to unrest,” Oyintiloye said.
“The coalition leaders are hungry for power and are ready to get it at all costs, not minding the negative implications of their actions on the country.
“We don’t have any other country except Nigeria, and it would be unwise to destroy it with our utterances and unguarded actions due to power search.
“What the country needs now is patriotic leaders who can support the present administration to work together in building a better future, create weather, and sustain peace, stability, and progress,” he added.
