As Nigerians anticipate the opposition coalition party for the 2027 elections, award winning investigative journalist, David Hundeyin wrote, “P.O [referring to Peter Obi] is the single biggest roadblock to mounting a challenge that has any chance of succeeding in 2027. The simple reason is that he has REFUSED TO DECLARE what he wants to do and where he stands.
“Does he want to run independently like in 2023, or does he want to work with the so-called coalition to oust Tinubu 20 months from now? Nobody knows. Not the coalition, not the people around him, and I suspect, not even he himself.
“The worst possible outcome between now and 2027 is for him to keep dilly dallying and telling contradictory things to different people, so that when this supposed coalition finally emerges, he will now announce announce 13 months to the election that he will run independently, and then we end up with another split opposition like last time out.”
A member of the inner circle of the Obidient Movement close to Mr Obi, Ibrahim Abdulkarim responded to Mr Hundeyin, hinting, the coalition are in final stage of revealing which political party they have adopted for the 2027 election.
Mr Abdulkarim said, “Be calm; everything will be concluded by Tuesday night. You will get the full information by Wednesday morning. I hope we, the supporters, will not fail our leaders when the platform is set for mobilization. As I always said in my previous post, Mr. Peter Obi is doing his best to get a good bargain within the coalition.
“I witnessed his commitment to the coalition to better the lives of Nigerians, not just to grab power. I will give the full story of this coalition, and you guys will be very proud of PO. I will explain the four options available for PO, but coalition is number one of his priorities for now.
“All support groups are already activated to continue mobilization and voter education. In the north, we are busy sustaining the anger against APC and its renewed hopelessness.”
This position was also confirmed by Mr Morris Monye, who is in charge of mobilisation in the Obidient Movement. According to Mr Monye, he is positive the coalition will reveal their adopted political platform this week.
