The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has expressed concern over the large number of uncollected
driver’s licenses in the state. According to the FRSC State Sector Commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, no fewer than 6,038
driver’s licenses remain unclaimed by applicants.
The FRSC had received a total of 10,038 driver’s licenses, comprising 7,213 licenses carried over from 2024 to 2025
and an additional 3,097 licenses received from the production plant between January and March 2025.
However, only 4,272 licenses have been collected, leaving 6,038 licenses unclaimed. Dr. Ibitoye urged applicants who
have yet to collect their licenses to visit the Board of Internal Revenue office in Alagbaka, Ondo State.
The FRSC sector commander noted that many people complain about delays in obtaining their driver’s licenses, yet
thousands of licenses remain uncollected. He emphasized that a valid driver’s license is the only legal document that
permits individuals to drive on Nigerian roads.

Dr. Ibitoye warned that drivers without a valid license would face sanctions as prescribed by the law. He also
appealed to those driving without a valid license to regularize their documents immediately.
The FRSC sector commander stressed that driving without a license is a serious offense, making the driver an
impostor on the road. He added that if an unlicensed driver is involved in an accident, the law will not be lenient.
The FRSC has urged applicants to take advantage of the available licenses and collect them promptly. This will not
only ensure that they are driving legally but also reduce the number of uncollected licenses.
