Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially signed a new contract with Chippa United, ending a period of speculation about his future. According to reports, this deal comes after considerable interest from other clubs, driven by his standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.

Nwabali, who has been a key player for Chippa United since joining the club in 2022, will now remain with the team until 2027. This extended contract reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities and commitment. The announcement was made on Thursday via the club’s social media account on X, where they shared their excitement about the extension and new role for Nwabali.

The club’s statement highlighted Nwabali’s exceptional dedication and leadership. It read: “We are pleased to announce that Stanley Nwabali has signed an improved three-year contract with Chippa United FC. We are incredibly proud of Stanley’s dedication and commitment to the club. His leadership on and off the field has been exemplary, and we believe he is the right person to guide our team through the challenges ahead.”

As part of his new contract, Nwabali will take on the role of team captain for the upcoming Premier Soccer League (PSL) season. This is a significant responsibility, indicating the club’s trust in his ability to lead the team both during matches and in training. The statement continued, “With this being said, Stanley will be our new team captain for the upcoming season. We wish Stanley continued success in his career, both in domestic competitions and on the international stage. We look forward to achieving great things together in the seasons to come.”

Nwabali’s journey with Chippa United began in 2022 when he transferred from Katsina United, a club in Nigeria’s Premier Football League. Since his arrival, he has made over 30 appearances for Chippa United, showcasing his skills and becoming a vital part of the team’s defense. His consistent performances have earned him recognition and respect both within the club and among fans.

The extension of Nwabali’s contract is seen as a strategic move by Chippa United to build a stable and successful future. With Nwabali’s leadership and experience, the club aims to strengthen its position in the PSL and achieve notable success in domestic and international competitions.

The long-term commitment from Nwabali is expected to bring stability and confidence to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
