Benue LG polls: APC commends party members for peaceful conduct during primary election

The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended its heartfelt commendations to both its leaders and members for their exemplary conduct throughout the recent primary election processes. This commendation follows a period of scrutiny and preparation leading up to the elections.

In a statement released on Thursday, Caretaker Organizing Secretary and Spokesperson Mr. James Ornguga praised the party members and aspirants for their adherence to peaceful practices during the primary elections. The screening process, which took place from September 1 to September 2, 2024, was marked by its orderly and calm execution. Ornguga highlighted that this positive behavior is a reflection of the party’s commitment to a democratic and transparent electoral process.

Mr. Ornguga noted with satisfaction that there were no reports of violence throughout the screening period. This is a significant achievement for the party, considering the often tense nature of election periods. Those who had grievances or concerns with the screening process were encouraged to bring their issues to the Screening Appeal Committee, which is chaired by Barrister Moses Atagher. This committee was specifically tasked with reviewing and addressing any issues or complaints that arose during the screening.

According to Ornguga, the committee successfully resolved all cases, ensuring that the primary election could proceed as planned. The primary elections were scheduled to begin on Wednesday and were completed on Thursday, adhering to the party’s timeline. This efficient handling of the process is seen as a testament to the party’s organizational strength and its ability to manage electoral activities effectively.

Following the conclusion of the primary elections, the Primary Election Appeal Committee will commence its sessions on Thursday. This committee is responsible for examining and addressing any petitions or appeals related to the conduct of the primary elections. This step is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that all concerns are appropriately addressed.

Mr. Ornguga concluded by calling for continued cooperation and understanding from all APC members. He emphasized that such cooperation is essential for the overall success of the electoral process and for the party’s continued progress. The party remains committed to upholding democratic values and ensuring that every stage of the electoral process is conducted fairly and transparently.

Overall, the APC in Benue State is optimistic about the outcomes of the recent elections and looks forward to the next stages of the electoral process with confidence and enthusiasm.
