Barau Urges Nigerians to Support Tinubu’s Administration

Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau J., has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu as he works to address the country’s significant economic and social challenges. Barau made this appeal during an event in Kano on Sunday, where he inaugurated the distribution of palliative aid to his constituents across seven states in the Northwest.

In his speech, Barau explained that the economic difficulties Nigeria is facing are part of a larger global issue, not just a local problem. He stressed that during such tough times, it is important for citizens to support their leaders to help navigate through the crisis effectively. He emphasized that unity and collective effort are crucial for overcoming the current hardships.

Barau highlighted that President Tinubu needs the support of all Nigerians to successfully manage and resolve the country’s ongoing issues. He pointed out that one of the President’s initiatives to help address these problems includes distributing palliatives to those in need. The aid, which consists of various grains, is aimed at providing some relief to the less privileged members of society.

Due to previous problems with the distribution of presidential palliatives, the Federal Government has decided to make changes to the process. Barau noted that new committees have been established to oversee the distribution more effectively. As the Chairman of the Palliatives Distribution Committee for the region, he assured the public that he would ensure the fair and equitable distribution of these resources.

The distribution effort began with the allocation of 23,000 bags of 25kg of rice to beneficiaries from local governments in Kano State. This initial phase is part of a broader strategy to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most.

Earlier in the day, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari addressed the concerns regarding the distribution of aid. He mentioned that President Tinubu was dissatisfied with the previous distribution methods, which led to the formation of a new federal distribution committee. This committee aims to rectify past issues and improve the efficiency of aid distribution.

Kyari also announced that Kano State would soon receive 70 trucks of subsidized rice from the federal government. He explained that the state had previously been allocated 90 trucks of food items and 70 trucks of fertilizer, but these resources were not distributed as intended. The new committee’s role is to ensure that such aid is distributed fairly and reaches those who need it most across the country.
