Mass Defection: PDP Welcomes APC Leaders, Members in Ondo
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsappShare on EmailShare on Telegram

Several prominent leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), giving a significant boost to the campaign of PDP gubernatorial candidate Agboola Ajayi. This shift in allegiance is seen as a major development in the political landscape of the state, particularly in the Auga, Ikakumo, and Akoko areas.

The defectors, who include both party leaders and loyal supporters, cited their dissatisfaction with the APC’s current policies and their desire to support a leader who is genuinely committed to the welfare of the people.

This move has been characterized by the PDP as a significant endorsement of Agboola Ajayi’s candidacy. The PDP has been actively promoting Ajayi as a candidate capable of bringing meaningful change to the state.

On Tuesday night, the PDP released a video on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the importance of this defection. The party described the influx of APC members as a “significant boost” to Ajayi’s gubernatorial aspirations. The video emphasized that the defectors are drawn from key areas where the APC had previously held influence, suggesting that their departure is a blow to the APC’s position in those regions.

In their statements, the defectors expressed their confidence in Ajayi’s ability to address the state’s challenges and improve the quality of life for its residents. They cited Ajayi’s commitment to the people and his track record as reasons for their switch. This sentiment reflects a growing belief in Ajayi’s potential to lead the state more effectively than the current administration.

The PDP has framed this mass defection as indicative of a broader shift in public sentiment against the APC. The party suggests that the defectors’ move highlights a rejection of the APC’s policies, which they claim have failed to deliver tangible benefits to the people. By joining the PDP, these former APC members are signaling their support for a new direction and a different approach to governance.

The party’s leaders are using this momentum to rally more support and strengthen their position ahead of the upcoming elections. They view the defection as a clear sign of Ajayi’s increasing popularity and the PDP’s rising influence in the state. The PDP believes that this development will not only enhance their electoral prospects but also signal a shift in political power dynamics within the state.

As the campaign progresses, the PDP is likely to continue highlighting these defections as evidence of their growing strength and the APC’s weakening position. The party is hopeful that the support from these new members will contribute significantly to Agboola Ajayi’s campaign, ultimately leading to a successful bid for the governorship.

The recent defection of APC leaders and members to the PDP represents a significant shift in the political landscape. It underscores the growing support for Agboola Ajayi and the PDP, while also signaling discontent with the APC’s current leadership and policies. This development is expected to have a considerable impact on the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
