Army Declares Halilu Buzu Wanted: Terrorist Sponsor Allegedly Behind 19 Deaths in Katsina and Zamfara States

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced the pursuit of Halilu Buzu for his involvement in multiple kidnappings and the killing of more than 19 villagers in Katsina and Zamfara States.
Halilu Buzu, identified as a sponsor and financier of terrorists from Niger, is the owner of a gold mine in Zamfara State and is actively engaged in substantial cattle rustling.

During a media briefing in Abuja, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed that Buzu is residing in Subbubu Forest within the Shinkafi Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State. Military intelligence was alerted to the terrorists’ activities due to reports about his gold mining operations which he trades with foreign buyers. The public is urged to provide any valuable information that could lead to the arrest of the terrorist.

General Buba spoke about the dangerous actions of Halilu Buzu, stating: “Halilu Buzu, a terrorist leader from Buzu, Niger, is wanted by the troops. He has settled in Subbubu Forest and is currently based in Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State. He operates a camp and an unauthorized gold mine in Kawayi, Anka LGA of Zamfara State, where he employs several individuals.”
“Halilu is known for his involvement in cattle rustling and illicit gold mining. Just recently, his associates carried out a brutal attack in which 19 villagers were killed in Farar Kasa. He is a high-priority target and has been officially declared wanted. Moreover, he is recognized as a significant arms trafficker, entrusted by arms dealers to supply weapons originating from Libya.

“Whenever the troops approach him, he seeks refuge across the border in Niger Republic. Efforts are underway, through the appropriate channels, to urge the Nigerian authorities to capture him and hold him accountable for his crimes.
“These types of terrorists are being actively pursued by the troops to eliminate them from the battlefield promptly.
“It is evident that the fate awaiting these terrorists causing insecurity in our country will be swift and forceful. The troops are fully committed to eliminating them from the battlefield.
“Consequently, the troops are tracking down key terrorist leaders who play significant roles in coordinating attacks against troops and civilians. They are also pursuing those individuals deemed of symbolic importance, including all those who have been declared wanted.”
