Moses Onate, a member of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative, announced that an additional 1,000 CNG kits are being distributed across Abuja and four other states.
Mr. Onate made this known during an inspection tour of a warehouse in Ibafo, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where some CNG kits are being stored.
He explained that the committee is currently cataloging the 1,000 kits and cylinders for distribution to Lagos, Ogun, Kaduna, Oyo, and Abuja.
“As of this morning, 450 kits have already been sent to Kaduna and Abuja, while 550 will be dispatched to Lagos, Oyo, and Ogun states,” he said.
According to him, the federal government has not received any negative feedback regarding the kits previously distributed.
On public awareness, Mr. Onate highlighted that the committee has extensively used social media to promote the initiative and encourage the public to take part.
He added that Lagos State alone has up to 10 CNG conversion centers.
“This initiative will greatly benefit people by reducing costs. Currently, fuel costs around one thousand naira, while CNG is priced at approximately N210 to N230.
“The price difference between fuel and CNG will have a significant positive impact on everyone.
“We will truly come to appreciate the advantages of using CNG,” he said.
Austin Nwaoduh, a pipeline engineer at the warehouse, also emphasized that CNG is cheaper, consumes less fuel, and is user-friendly.
He further mentioned that CNG emits fewer fumes into the atmosphere.
“This is a commendable initiative by the president, and it will help reduce the cost of operating vehicles,” he added.
