Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, the National Chairman of the Labour Party Caretaker Committee, has called on members to work together in unity to face challenges and lead the party toward a better future for all Nigerians.

While inaugurating the Caretaker Committee in Abuja, she emphasized that a shared vision and dedication can help them overcome difficulties and make the Labour Party a symbol of hope. Usman stated, “Our mission is clear. We aim to create a party that brings real change and relief to the people.”

She acknowledged that rebuilding the party may be tougher than starting anew and urged members to be ready to work hard. Meetings might happen on short notice, so she asked for their understanding and cooperation.

Usman encouraged those who can help to contribute, saying, “This is a time for self-sacrifice, and I believe many of you are dedicated to this cause. I didn’t expect to be named Chairman, but I see it as an honor and a call to serve.”

One of their first tasks will be to reconcile with aggrieved members and bring them back into the party. Usman stressed the need for the Labour Party to be a strong opposition, saying, “Democracy thrives on active oversight. Our goal is to hold the government accountable and ensure it fulfills its promises to the people.”

She shared her vision of a united and peaceful Nigeria, where people can travel safely, free from fear of violence, and where the economy supports everyone. “We want a country where youth are employed and education is prioritized, ensuring no child is left out of school,” she explained.

Usman believes these goals can be achieved under Labour Party leadership in the near future. She reminded the committee members that they were on a rescue mission, not just for the party but for democracy as a whole. The interest in their work extends beyond party lines, and if they succeed, the Labour Party can support all Nigerians who feel dissatisfied or disenfranchised.

She emphasized the importance of viewing their roles as a call to serve and recognize the significant responsibility they have. Usman noted that they must embody the values they promote and be prepared to make sacrifices for the party.

“I ask everyone not to have unrealistic expectations. This is a time for pure sacrifice as we rebuild our party, and we welcome ideas from all members,” she said.
Finally, she urged members to act with integrity, reminding them that the new generation of supporters, known as “Obidients,” is closely watching their actions. “Our commitment must be total,” she concluded.
