Enugu LG Polls: Governor Mbah Pleads Support for PDP in Upcoming Elections

As the local government elections slated to hold on September 21 approach, in Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah urges voters to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure the continuation of his administration’s development initiatives.

During the final campaign event at Okpara Square in Enugu on Wednesday, Mbah emphasized the importance of voters making informed choices. “When we say power to the people in PDP, we understand that you have chosen leaders who will get things done quickly,” he stated. He reassured the electorate that they are not handing their future to those who are merely experimenting with governance.

Mbah highlighted the significant number of projects currently underway, stating that over 1,000 initiatives are being executed across the state. This extensive development plan includes the construction of 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centers in various wards. “This isn’t just about building structures; it’s about ensuring that every child has access to quality education,” he noted.

The governor also mentioned that these schools will incorporate modern learning tools such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality. “We want to prepare our children for the future, so they never have to face poverty,” he said.

Furthermore, Mbah announced that more than a billion naira is being invested in each ward, emphasizing that this investment is aimed at generating wealth and creating job opportunities for the people. “Our goal is to reduce hunger in our communities by providing real jobs rather than temporary handouts,” he explained. This approach is designed to empower citizens and foster sustainable development in Enugu State.

The governor also stressed the importance of electing credible candidates for local councils, acknowledging that rural areas face significant developmental challenges. “If we are feeling the impact of PDP governance at the state level, we must extend that success to the grassroots,” he asserted. He called for strong candidates with proven track records to represent the party, urging voters to support individuals who have demonstrated integrity and competence in their previous roles.

Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, the PDP chairman in Enugu, added that the party has campaigned actively across all local government areas while noting that they have not seen any significant campaign efforts from the opposition. “If you do not campaign, how do you expect to win? We encourage our supporters to come out and vote in large numbers,” he said.

Other party leaders echoed Mbah’s messages, pointing out that the governor’s numerous projects in just 15 months have already established a strong foundation for the party’s success in the upcoming election. They expressed confidence that these initiatives would not only enhance the party’s position but also significantly improve the lives of residents in Enugu State.

Governor Mbah and the PDP are calling on voters to actively participate in the elections, reinforcing their commitment to development and progress in Enugu. The emphasis is on collective action to ensure a brighter future for all citizens.
