Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has formally congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo on the results of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged as the winner of the election held on Saturday.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa extended his heartfelt congratulations to Okpebholo and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, on their significant victory.
Aiyedatiwa, who served as the Chairman of the APC’s Election Planning and Strategy Committee for the Edo election, expressed deep appreciation to the people of Edo State for placing their trust in the APC to govern.
“I want to congratulate our party, the APC, Senator Okpebholo, and Hon. Idahosa on their well-deserved victory in the recent governorship election,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
He acknowledged the collective efforts of party members and supporters who worked tirelessly to secure this win, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration within the party. Aiyedatiwa further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his exemplary leadership, which he believes played a crucial role in ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process in Edo. He remarked, “We are grateful to Mr. President for providing the leadership that allowed for a transparent electoral exercise.”
This acknowledgment highlights the supportive role of national leadership in local elections.
In addition, the governor praised the APC’s leadership structure, particularly National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as the national and state campaign committees for their diligent efforts leading up to the election. He noted that their strategic planning and commitment were vital in achieving this much-needed victory for the APC.
Aiyedatiwa also commended the peaceful conduct of the citizens of Edo State before, during, and after the election. He expressed hope that this peaceful atmosphere would continue as the new administration takes office, allowing for stability and progress in the region.
