Anthony Joshua Unfazed by Defeat, Reaffirms His Commitment to Boxing

Former two-time heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has expressed his determination to continue his boxing career following his surprising defeat to Daniel Dubois in London, on Saturday.

Joshua’s attempt to reclaim the heavyweight title and re-establish himself among the elite ended dramatically, with Dubois knocking him down multiple times at Wembley Stadium. The bout concluded in Round 5 when Dubois delivered a powerful right hand, resulting in Joshua’s fourth career loss, while Dubois successfully defended his IBF title.

During the post-fight press conference, Joshua affirmed his commitment to the sport, indicating his desire for another match. “You might be wondering if I still wish to fight. I want to keep fighting,” Joshua told reporters. “We aimed for success but fell short. What does that imply now? Should we retreat, or shall we prepare to fight again?”

The British-Nigerian fighter was knocked down first in the 1st Round after Dubois connected with a powerful left jab, which left the Wembley audience in shock.
Anthony Joshua acknowledged Dubois for his impressive performance. “We must give credit to our opponent, Daniel. Congratulations to him and his team, and I also appreciate my team for their preparation.”
There were some errors, but that is part of the sport, “Small margins can be decisive at the highest level.” Joshua remarked.

Promoter Eddie Hearn announced in the ring that a rematch clause would likely be invoked but later clarified at the post-fight press conference that Joshua had an agreement to participate in another Riyadh Season event and would likely seek a rematch. Hearn noted that Joshua aims to engage in significant fights as he approaches the end of his career, making a preliminary bout unlikely.
