AFCON 2025 Qualifier: We’re Not Ready for Super Eagles – Libya Coach Cries Out

Libya’s head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the team’s preparations for the upcoming qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Nigeria.

As the Mediterranean Knights gear up for these crucial matches, Al-Hadiri faces significant challenges, particularly the absence of several key players.

The team is struggling with injuries and suspensions that will prevent some of their most important players from participating.

Additionally, reports from Libya suggest that some top players have decided to boycott the matches, further complicating the coach’s plans.

This situation has left Al-Hadiri concerned about the team’s overall readiness to compete at a high level.

In a recent press conference, Al-Hadiri emphasized the impact of these absences on his tactical planning. He stated, “We have not yet reached the required level of readiness to face a strong team like Nigeria.”

He acknowledged that the team was already in poor shape when he took over as coach, making the current circumstances even more challenging.

The coach highlighted that the absence of key players during the initial training sessions has made it difficult to establish a comprehensive tactical strategy for the upcoming games.

“Without our top performers, it’s tough to implement the strategies I believe are necessary to succeed against a formidable opponent like Nigeria,” he explained.

The Libyan team is set to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo this Friday.

This match is expected to be intense, as Nigeria is known for its strong footballing tradition and competitive spirit. Following the away game, Libya will host Nigeria in Benina four days later, a match that could be crucial for their hopes in the qualifiers.

Al-Hadiri is aware of the importance of these matches for Libya’s chances of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations. He called on the remaining players to step up and demonstrate their commitment to the team’s goals.

The coach believes that even with the current setbacks, the players who are available can rise to the occasion and put in a solid performance.

Moreover, Al-Hadiri has urged the team to focus on their strengths and work together to compensate for the missing players. “Every match is an opportunity to show what we can do, and we must remain united and determined,” he said.

The Libyan team and their coach are hoping for a strong showing against Nigeria, despite the obstacles they face.

As they prepare for the challenge ahead, Al-Hadiri remains focused on instilling a sense of confidence and resilience in his squad, aiming to make a positive impact in the qualifiers and keep their hopes alive for the Africa Cup of Nations.
