The chairman of the All Progressive Congress has expressed optimism over the party’s victory at the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled to hold November 16, appealing to leaders of the party in the state to work together and ensure the victory of the party.
Ganduje made this appeal during a meeting with South-West APC Governors’ Forum Stakeholders in Akure, the state capital.
Some of the governors in attendance included the governors of Lagos, Ekiti, and the host, Ondo, while the Ogun State governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.
The APC Chairman noted that the number of party leaders attending the meeting was encouraging and a strong indication that the party was getting all set for the task ahead, while he urged them to put all that happened in the primary behind them and throw their weight fully behind the party’s candidate.
The chairman assured Mr. Ayedatiwa of the party’s full support and hinted at the preparedness of all stakeholders at the national level and across, stressing that the party would ensure seamless coordination in a bid to have a successful election in Ondo State.
“We are here to motivate, energise and support you that this election and the success in this election is a task that must be done. “ We are expecting 90 per cent in the coming election. Make sure you know those that are supposed to vote in the polling units. We assure you, President Tinubu is the best leader that we have,” he concluded.
Giving his remarks, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is also serving as the Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum, appealed to all aggressive members of the party in the state to forget the past and focus on the future and progress of the state.
While he commended all the aspirants in the primary election and for their show of support and solidarity with the flag bearer, Aiyedatiwa, he appealed to them to “further unite for the victory of APC in the guber polls.
The flag bearer and governor of Ondo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in his remarks, appreciated the leaders, promising them that all their advice and suggestions would receive immediate action.
He similarly thanked the APC leaders in the state, especially the aspirants in the April 20 primary election and the cabinet members.
Other leaders who spoke at the meeting were the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele; APC elder stateman; and octogenarian PaTajudeen Olusi. According to reports, some of the co-contestants in the party’s primary election in the state, including Chief Olusola Oke, Isaacs Kekemeke, and Wale Akinterinwa, also promised to support APC to victory in the gubernatorial polls.
In the same vein, the political associates of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who recently decamped to the ruling APC from the PDP, were present at the meeting; a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, led the group.
