Soludo Condoles with Families of recent cult killings, Vows Action Against menace

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has expressed his condolences to the families and community members affected by the recent cult-related killings in the Nibo community of Awka South Local Government Area. During his visit to Eke Market in Awka on Monday, Soludo vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice and intensify efforts to combat cultism in the state.

The incident claimed at least 13 lives, following a violent clash between rival cult groups during the New Yam festival in Nibo on Sunday. 

Addressing the tragic incident, Soludo condemned the violence and urged the public to remain calm and go about their lawful activities, promising swift action against those involved.

“Every avoidable loss of life in Anambra shatters my heart, especially when young lives are cut short,” Soludo said. “The mindless violence between rival cults in our communities is heartbreaking. Yesterday’s tragic incident in Nibo is unacceptable, and I have ordered immediate action under our anti-cultism law.”

The governor also called on parents and community leaders to join the fight against cultism, stressing that laws alone are not enough to prevent such tragedies. He urged collective efforts from families and local communities to safeguard the youth and prevent further violence.

“We must take action at home and in our communities to end cultism,” Soludo added. “We will continue to pray for the lost souls and work towards a safer Anambra where the law prevails and such avoidable tragedies are prevented.”
