Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has vowed that no part of the state will be ceded to neighboring regions during his administration. He made this commitment during a meeting on Friday with representatives from Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, which included traditional rulers, technocrats, and notable government officials at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Addressing concerns raised at the meeting, former Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Segun Awonusi, highlighted reports of territorial encroachments from Lagos and Ondo states into areas like Ode-Omi and Makun. He noted that Governor Abiodun has acknowledged these incursions and assured attendees of his determination to prevent any loss of Ogun State’s territory.
“We discussed the ongoing challenges faced by our local government, particularly the encroachments from neighboring states. The governor has reassured us that every inch of Ogun land will be protected,” said Awonusi. “He has also promised enhanced security measures to ensure peaceful living for our people.”
Additionally, former Commissioner for Environment, Abdul Balogun, mentioned the governor’s commitment to addressing infrastructure issues in the area. Balogun confirmed that immediate plans are underway for the rehabilitation of the Dau-Ibiade-Abigi-Efire-Makun-Ilisin road.
Furthermore, efforts are set to restore electricity to parts of the local government that have experienced power outages for over three years, signaling a move towards improving living conditions for residents.
