First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has dismissed reports suggesting she is organizing a national prayer event to address Nigeria’s ongoing socio-economic and security issues. Allegations had surfaced that she, alongside National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, would spearhead a week-long interfaith prayer session named Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs.

According to these reports, the event was said to be announced by Segun Afolorunikan, the Director-General of the National Prayer Forum, during a recent press briefing.

The proposed prayer gathering was described as a collaboration between Christian and Muslim leaders, set to be held at the National Ecumenical Centre. It aimed to bring together prayer groups from different denominations, focused on seeking divine solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.

However, in an official statement released by her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, Mrs. Tinubu denied any involvement in organizing such an event. She clarified that the circulating reports were false and misleading. While the First Lady expressed her strong belief in the importance of prayer for the nation, she emphasized that it should be a voluntary and heartfelt act by all Nigerians.

The statement further advised the public to disregard the false reports and verify any information related to the First Lady through official channels. Mrs. Tinubu reiterated that praying for Nigeria’s welfare is a collective duty of every citizen, irrespective of their religious, political, or ethnic background.
