In a bid to ensure efficient governance and reduce corrupt practices, the Abia State government has engaged stakeholders on the National Digital Economy and e-governance bill. The stakeholders’ engagement, which was held in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency, Nigeria Digital Identification Development Project, and the National Assembly, is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure that all 36 states of the federation make inputs on the bill.

According to Jeffery Nwalima, Technical Lead of the partnering legal agency of the stakeholders’ engagement, “The bill is all about economic transformation to establish a regulatory foundation to encourage digital commerce, cross-border trade, and innovation.” Nwalima emphasized the importance of the bill in driving economic growth and development in the state.

The Abia State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science and Development, David Kalu, also described the bill as a critical force in driving economic growth and empowering every citizen in every sector of the economy. “The bill, if passed into law, is expected to improve Nigeria’s digital space, improve her economy, and make for efficient transactions,” Kalu said. The stakeholders’ engagement is a significant step towards ensuring that the state is on the right path towards digital governance. With the bill, the state aims to establish a regulatory framework that will encourage digital commerce, cross-border trade, and innovation.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to make inputs on the bill and ensure that it reflect the needs and aspirations of the people of Abia State. This is in line with the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure that all states of the federation are involved in the process of developing the bill.
As part of the engagement, stakeholders were taken through the provisions of the bill and its implications for the state. They were also given the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions on how to improve the bill.
The Abia State government has demonstrated its commitment to digital governance by engaging stakeholders on the e-governance bill. This is a significant step towards ensuring that the state is on the right path towards digital governance.

With the bill, the state aims to establish a regulatory framework that will encourage digital commerce, cross-border trade, and innovation. This will not only improve the state’s digital space but also improve her economy and make for efficient transactions. The stakeholders’ engagement is a significant step towards ensuring that the state is on the right path towards digital governance. It provides an opportunity for stakeholders to make inputs on the bill and ensure that it reflects the needs and aspirations of the people of Abia State.

As the state moves forward with the e-governance bill, it is essential that all stakeholders continue to work together to ensure that the bill is passed into law and implemented effectively.
The successful implementation of the e-governance bill will not only improve the state’s digital space but also improve her economy and make for efficient transactions.
