Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has defended his administration’s allocation spending, amid widespread criticisms of state governors over their utilization of increased federal allocations following the removal of fuel subsidy. Fintiri emphasized that it is possible for Nigerian governments to use state resources effectively for the benefit of their citizens.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, during an interactive forum in Yola, Fintiri acknowledged the growing mistrust between citizens and their leaders, exacerbated by economic hardship, violent extremism, and the global climate crisis. “The subsidy removal had amplified these challenges, with citizens questioning the actions of state governments in addressing their plight,” Amos said.

Fintiri’s administration has been commended for its proactive measures in addressing the challenges facing the state. The event, themed “Sustaining Adamawa State’s Strategic Role in Stabilizing National Plans in Nigeria,” highlighted the state’s achievements in health, education, and infrastructure.
Amos cited the administration’s achievements as evidence of resourceful governance, noting that Adamawa had effectively responded to citizens’ concerns. “Just this week, the Adamawa State government has responded eloquently to these questions by reeling out its scorecard through ministerial press briefings,” he said.

Fintiri’s leadership has been praised for promoting equitable resource distribution and achieving tangible results in development administration. Prof. Kayode Asaju, in his paper titled “Sustaining Adamawa State Strategic Role in Stabilising National Plan in Nigeria,” commended Fintiri’s administration for its proactive measures.
Dr. Maurice Vonobolki, a development specialist, attributed the state’s success to strategic investments in infrastructure, health, and education, as well as proactive measures against insecurity. “Fintiri’s leadership since 2019 has significantly improved Adamawa’s human development indices,” Vonobolki said.

Fintiri’s administration has also been commended for its transparent and accountable leadership. Amos described Fintiri as a model for other state governors facing similar criticisms.
The Adamawa State government has been working to address the challenges facing the state, including economic hardship and insecurity. Fintiri’s administration has implemented several initiatives aimed at promoting economic development and improving the lives of citizens.

Despite the criticisms, Fintiri remains committed to using state resources effectively for the benefit of Adamawa’s citizens. His administration’s achievements in health, education, and infrastructure are a testament to his commitment to resourceful governance.
As the debate over subsidy removal continues, Fintiri’s administration remains focused on addressing the challenges facing Adamawa State. With his transparent and accountable leadership, Fintiri is setting a good example for other state governors to follow.
