Five men were arraigned before an Ota Magistrate Court in Ogun State on Monday, facing charges of stealing a truckload of Milo products valued at N25 million. The accused individuals—Temidire Ramon, 35; Aminu Yusuf, 26; Olusola Opadare, 35; Oludayo Adeleye, 38; and Amodu Jimoh, 51—are charged with theft and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Insp. E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the crime occurred on October 13, 2020, in Agbara, Ogun State. He explained that the defendants had conspired and stolen a truckload of Milo products from Nestlé Nigeria, with an estimated value of N25 million. The charges brought against the defendants violate Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Mr. O.A. Onagoruwa granted each defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties each in like sum. The sureties must be gainfully employed and reside within the court’s jurisdiction. Additionally, the sureties are required to provide proof of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case was adjourned until December 12, 2024, for a hearing. The court’s ruling allows the defendants to remain free pending the hearing, provided they meet the bail conditions. The court’s decision reflects the gravity of the charges, with a focus on ensuring the defendants’ attendance at future proceedings.
