Edo Governor Flags Off 4.7 km Utteh Palace Road Construction

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially launched the construction of the 4.7 km Utteh Palace Road in Benin, fulfilling a key campaign promise. The event, which took place on Monday evening, marks the beginning of a significant infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity within the state. Located in the Edo South Senatorial District, the road is expected to foster economic growth and enhance mobility for residents.

During the ceremony, Governor Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s commitment to the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He emphasized that road infrastructure, alongside other key sectors, would be a priority for the state government. The road will connect Ikpoba-Okha and Uhunmwonde Local Government Areas, facilitating smoother transportation and enhancing regional development.

The Governor recalled his earlier visit to the community, where he had pledged to address the poor state of the road. “When I visited here three months ago during my campaign, the road was in a dilapidated condition. Today, I am here to fulfil my promise to the people,” Okpebholo stated, underscoring his determination to improve the lives of the people through infrastructural development.

The contractor for the project, Risen Fan, assured that the road would be completed on time and to the highest quality standards. He highlighted that the project would not only improve transportation but also stimulate growth in key sectors like agriculture, education, and healthcare, creating a more conducive environment for investments and development.

Community leaders, including the Secretary of Utteh, Lucky Asemota, expressed their gratitude to the Governor for keeping his word. Asemota noted that the road would significantly benefit both residents and businesses, contributing to a brighter future for the area.
