Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has emphasized the importance of youth inclusion in governance, stating that empowering young people today guarantees a brighter future. Speaking at the First Annual Youth Summit and Empowerment Programme organized by the Ogun State chapter of the City Boy Movement in Abeokuta, the governor revealed plans to provide grants and training opportunities for youth development.
Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, Governor Abiodun noted that the administration’s Ogun Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Programme (Ogun YES) would offer grants between N500,000 and N1 million to support business-orientated youths. He stated that this initiative would enable them to fulfil their dreams and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.
The governor also announced the forthcoming Ogun Youth Agricultural Programme, which will train thousands of young people in advanced agricultural technology, equipping them with the skills to drive innovation and boost food production in the state.
“We are building a future where youths are not only participants but also innovators and decision-makers,” Abiodun said. “Our administration is committed to ensuring that the youth have the tools and opportunities to lead and excel.”
Abiodun highlighted the critical role of youths in societal growth, urging them to harness their talents and entrepreneurial spirit. The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to foster economic development, create jobs, and prepare young people for leadership roles in governance and beyond.
