The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has emphasised the importance of intelligence sharing in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges. Speaking through the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Commandant Babawale Afolabi, Dr. Audi commended Nigerians for their cooperation in providing actionable intelligence, which has significantly enhanced the Corps’ operations.
Dr. Audi acknowledged that the collaboration between citizens and security agencies has been pivotal in combating terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and the protection of critical national assets. He highlighted how such intelligence has enabled the NSCDC to effectively safeguard infrastructure essential to national development.
“The successes achieved in our operations are largely due to the credible information volunteered by Nigerians who trust the NSCDC as a world-class elite force,” the Commandant General stated. He also lauded the support of state and zonal Commandants, as well as the management team, for their unwavering commitment to the Corps’ statutory mandate.
Since assuming office, Dr. Audi has repositioned the NSCDC to address its responsibilities as outlined in the Establishment Act of 2003, amended in 2007. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating a conducive environment for the Corps to thrive and to Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for implementing policies that have bolstered the agency’s effectiveness.
Looking forward, the NSCDC remains committed to addressing crude oil theft, illegal mining, and the vandalism of public utilities. Dr. Audi assured the public of the Corps’ continued collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property across the country.
The NSCDC boss further urged officers and men to uphold the Corps’ integrity, align with the renewed hope agenda, and continue serving the nation with dedication and loyalty.
