A chieftain of Orluzurumee, the socio-political group representing the Orlu zone of Imo State, Collins Opurozor, has called for unwavering unity within the region as the 2027 governorship race approaches. He warned against attempts by politicians to destabilize the zone for personal political ambitions.
Opurozor, a former spokesperson for the opposition in Imo State, criticized certain individuals he described as “crisis merchants” for seeking to fragment Orluzurumee’s structures. He emphasized that the group’s unity was paramount for ensuring Orlu’s continued political relevance and development.
Speaking on Orluzurumee’s current activities, Opurozor clarified that the group was still undergoing reorganization and had not yet inaugurated its leadership. He reassured members that a new leadership structure, which truly represents the interests of Orlu people, would soon emerge.
He accused some political actors of prioritizing their ambitions over the collective well-being of the zone, urging the people to resist such individuals. Opurozor stressed that the Orlu zone must remain united to ensure a better future for Imo State, adding that the people deserve leaders who prioritize their needs.
Highlighting the achievements of Governor Hope Uzodimma, Opurozor praised the governor’s impact on the state and described him as a source of pride for the Orlu people. He urged politicians to emulate the governor’s focus on development rather than personal gains.
Opurozor also warned that the 2027 elections would be a turning point for the zone. He likened removing failed leaders to pulling out rotten teeth, stating that Orlu would reject those who betray its unity and aspirations.
