President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the decentralization of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria. The institution, previously headquartered solely in Kaduna State, will now operate as six regional campuses distributed across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
This strategic move was disclosed by the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) through its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday. The party highlighted that this development underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to national integration and the improvement of aviation education in the country.
The new campuses will be situated in Akure (Southwest), Osubi (South-South), and Ebonyi (Southeast). Additional locations include Ilorin (North Central), Yola (Northeast), and Zaria (Northwest). Each campus is expected to provide specialized training to meet the growing demands of the aviation sector.
According to the APC, this decentralization ensures a broader reach for NCAT, promoting inclusivity and regional balance. It is anticipated that this expansion will create opportunities for aspiring aviation professionals from diverse parts of Nigeria to access quality training closer to their homes.
Stakeholders have commended the initiative, noting its potential to boost the nation’s aviation capacity. The move aligns with global trends where aviation training is decentralized to optimize operations and foster regional development.
