Chaos erupted in Ogun state-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, forcing authorities to announce the closure of the Polytechnic effective from Monday, January 13, 2025, till further notice.
The students were expressing displeasure at the management’s intention to have their previous institutions confirm their National Diploma grades.
Because several students objected to the management’s decision to confirm their National Diploma results from their previous schools, the school administration stated that this was done to protect lives and property.
The students are also protesting a purported increase in their tuition costs as well as a delay in their Higher National Diploma students’ National Youth Service Corps mobilization.
Yemi Ajibola, the institution’s public relations officer, made this announcement in a statement released in the state capital of Abeokuta.
He said, “Management expressed its zero tolerance to fake results from any quarters,” he said.
“Consequent upon this, students have been advised to stay away from the campus in their interests, as parents and the general public are assured of a timely update as events unfold,” the statement reads.
