The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled its gubernatorial primary for March 29, 2025, ahead of the Anambra State governorship election set for November 8, 2025. This decision was confirmed by the Anambra APC Chairman, Sir Basil Ejidike, during a State Working Committee (SWC) meeting.
Among those vying for the party’s ticket are Sir Paul Chukwuma, a former National Auditor of the APC; Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines (UNA); and Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, a former House of Representatives member for Abuja Municipal. The primary will proceed without Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who passed away on July 27, 2024.
Dr. Valentine Oliobi, Anambra APC’s Publicity Secretary, also affirmed the date in a statement to reporters, noting that the decision was reached after a National Working Committee meeting at the APC National Secretariat. He emphasized that the timeline aligns with discussions held between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political parties on compliance with the Electoral Act.
“The APC found it necessary to design a program for the Anambra gubernatorial primary and notify INEC as stipulated by the law,” Oliobi stated.
The party has expressed confidence in a transparent process that will ensure the emergence of a strong candidate capable of securing victory for the APC in the November election.
