Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Anambra State, has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for assaulting a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies. The student’s actions came to light after a viral video showed her biting Dr. Chukwudi Okoye during a confrontation on campus.
The altercation reportedly occurred after Precious was interrupted while recording a TikTok video, which sparked an intense disagreement with the lecturer. The university administration has swiftly acted, expelling Precious after a thorough investigation into the matter.
On February 13, 2025, the university issued an official expulsion letter, signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, confirming that Precious’ actions were in direct violation of the institution’s disciplinary regulations. According to the letter, the decision was made following the recommendation of the Student Disciplinary Committee, which had found her behavior to be a severe breach of the university’s code of conduct.
The expulsion was immediate, and Precious was instructed to vacate the premises and return any university property in her possession. The confrontation, which occurred on campus, quickly gained public attention after the viral circulation of the video. It ignited widespread outrage across social media, leading to calls for disciplinary measures against the student.
