The Osun State Government has raised alarm over an alleged invasion of Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) by dismissed local government executives, warning against unauthorized interference in public health facilities.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Adekunle Akindele, accused a former All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman of illegally gaining access to PHCs in Ilesa local government areas, under the pretense of a working visit.

Dr. Akindele listed the affected health facilities as Okeoye PHC (Ward 8), Irojo PHC (Ward 9), Okesa PHC (Ward 7), Ilemo PHC (Ward 4), and Ijamo PHC (Ward 5). He described the actions as unlawful and disruptive, cautioning healthcare workers against engaging with unauthorized individuals. He emphasized that no local government official has the authority to inspect or interfere with the operations of PHCs without direct approval from the Primary Healthcare Board in Osogbo.

The state government alleged that the dismissed officials were accompanied by armed thugs, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity within healthcare centers. Akindele warned that such actions could endanger the lives of both healthcare workers and vulnerable patients who rely on these facilities for medical care. “This reckless behavior is a direct threat to public safety, and we will not allow political distractions to undermine our health system,” he stated.

He further criticized the move as a politically motivated stunt, warning that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke will not tolerate any attempt to destabilize the state’s healthcare system. He assured the public that the government remains committed to ensuring a safe and effective healthcare delivery system despite external distractions.
