Super Eagles Unveil 35-Man Squad for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The Super Eagles have announced a 35-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The team, led by head coach Eric Chelle, features a mix of experienced players and new faces.Captain Ahmed Musa returns to the squad for the first time since the 2023 AFCON, alongside assistant captain William Troost-Ekong and midfielder Joe Aribo.

The trio is expected to provide leadership and stability to the team.Six new players have been introduced to the squad, including home-based players Papa Mustapha, Kayode Bankole, and Ifeanyi Emmanuel Onyebuchi. This move demonstrates the coach’s commitment to scouting domestic talent.Despite fitness concerns, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Jerome Akor Adams, and Maduka Okoye have been included in the squad. Their availability will be closely monitored in the lead-up to the matches.

The squad boasts an impressive array of forwards, including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Kelechi Iheanacho. These players are expected to provide the firepower needed to secure victories against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.Midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, and Alex Iwobi will provide creativity and control in the middle of the park.

Their experience and skill will be crucial in dictating the pace of the game.Defenders William Ekong, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Calvin Bassey will form a solid backbone for the team. Their defensive prowess will be essential in keeping the opposition at bay.

Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Adeleye Adebayo will compete for the starting spot. Each goalkeeper brings a unique set of skills and experience to the table.The Super Eagles will face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in crucial World Cup qualifiers.
