The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the 750-kilometer Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria road project. Minister of State for Works, Mr. Bello Goronyo, made this known during an inspection tour of the ongoing project in Sokoto State.

Goronyo emphasized that the project is part of President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to ensure timely completion of

ongoing infrastructure projects. The minister is leading a team to inspect projects in Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina,

Kaduna, and Kano States to ensure quality and seamless execution.

The Sokoto-Zaria road project is a critical component of the Federal Government’s infrastructure development

agenda. The project aims to enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and improve the overall quality of life for citizens in the region.

Goronyo reminded contractors and officials handling the project to comply with contractual agreements and ensure

speedy and quality work. He also assured that President Tinubu deserves the support of the people ahead of the

2027 General Elections, given his commitment to executing legacy projects.

The minister highlighted that the Sokoto-Zaria road project is part of a larger vision to develop Nigeria’s infrastructure.

He noted that President Tinubu is executing a 47-year-old dream of former President Shehu Shagari, the 1,068-

kilometer Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway project, which has already commenced.

Goronyo described the super highway project as a commercial booster and life-saving for citizens. He added that the

road project would enhance security and social development in the region.

The Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, has also announced that the Federal Government has transitioned the

reconstruction of the Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria Road to concrete pavement to enhance its durability and long-term impact.
