The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has apologized for his recent attacks on the Federal High Court and Justice Binta Nyako.
Kanu’s apology was tendered through his new counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, before Justice James Omotosho, the new
trial judge.
Kanu’s apology also extended to the Federal Government’s lawyer, Chief Awomolo, and his own team of lawyers,
whom he had attacked while before Justice Nyako. The IPOB leader’s apology was seen as a significant development
in his ongoing trial.
Kanu’s trial resumed on March 21 before Justice Omotosho, who had been assigned to the case after Justice Nyako
withdrew. Kanu was expected to take his plea as the case begins afresh, but instead, his counsel sought the court’s
permission to deliver a message on Kanu’s behalf.
The message was Kanu’s apology for his recent outbursts, which had sparked controversy and raised concerns about
his behavior. Justice Omotosho granted the application, allowing Kanu’s counsel to deliver the apology.
