YPP Denies Soludo’s Claim of Collapsing Structures for APGA, Reaffirms Commitment to Anambra’s Future

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) on Friday rejected the claim made by Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma

Soludo, that it had collapsed its structures to support the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the upcoming

November 2025 governorship election.

The party swiftly responded to the governor’s statement, calling it “false” and part of an attempt to mislead the public.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Egbeola Martins, issued a press statement in Abuja, firmly distancing the YPP from any alliance with APGA.

Martins emphasized that at no point had the YPP’s leadership discussed or agreed to collapse its structures to

support the ruling APGA in Anambra. “The YPP is a formidable political force, ranked among the top six parties in

Nigeria and among the top three in Anambra. We will not allow ourselves to be misrepresented by unfounded claims,” Martins said.

The party reiterated that its focus remains on offering the people of Anambra a real alternative to the current

administration, rejecting the idea of supporting the continuation of APGA’s governance in any form.

The controversy began when Governor Soludo suggested that smaller political parties, including YPP, had agreed to

support APGA’s leadership in the 2025 elections. However, the YPP was quick to refute this narrative, highlighting that

the party was not involved in any behind-the-scenes deals with APGA. Instead, the party is determined to present a

credible and competitive candidate to the electorate in November. “We remain committed to providing a better and

more progressive alternative to Anambra’s leadership,” said Martins.

As the 2025 governorship election approaches, the YPP is resolute in its decision to field a candidate who will focus

on the real issues affecting the people of Anambra. The party is setting its sights on providing a leadership that will

prioritize inclusivity, development, and the welfare of Anambra citizens.

“Our focus is on building a better Anambra, and we remain committed to offering the people of the state an

alternative leadership that is transparent and progressive,” Martins added.

The YPP urged the people of Anambra to disregard Soludo’s claims and focus on the issues that truly matter for the

state’s future. The party’s leadership believes that the voters should not be distracted by political propaganda but

should remain focused on finding a leader who is capable of tackling the state’s challenges effectively. “Let us all work towards a more prosperous and united Anambra,” Martins concluded.

With the election set for November 8, 2025, the political atmosphere in Anambra is heating up as various parties, including the YPP, prepare for a high-stakes contest. The YPP’s rejection of any alliance with APGA signals its intent to be a strong contender in the race, offering Anambra voters a real choice for change.
