Ancelotti Stresses Mutual Respect Between Real Madrid and Barcelona Ahead of Key Clashes

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has spoken about the deep respect shared between his team and their fierce rivals, Barcelona, as both clubs push for a historic treble this season.

With Real Madrid trailing Barcelona by three points in La Liga and both teams advancing to the Copa del Rey final,

Ancelotti highlighted the importance of mutual respect in such a competitive environment.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s match against Valencia, Ancelotti acknowledged Barcelona’s impressive form,

stating, “Barcelona is playing well, they’re in good form. When you play a final, you have to respect all your opponents.

There is a lot of respect for Barcelona because of their quality, and I believe Barcelona has a similar respect for Real Madrid.”

Both clubs are on track to win the La Liga title, Copa del Rey, and Champions League. Ancelotti noted that despite the

fierce rivalry, respect remains a key factor in their relationship with Barcelona. “We are rivals on the field, but there is

always mutual respect because of the quality both teams have shown,” he added.

Ancelotti’s remarks come after Real Madrid’s dramatic 5-4 aggregate victory over Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey

semi-finals, which went into extra time. Real Madrid now prepares for a crucial La Liga match against Valencia, a

team that has been in good form recently. “This is an important moment of the season,” Ancelotti emphasized,

referring to the club’s need to maintain focus as they chase multiple titles.

In May, Real Madrid will meet Barcelona in a key La Liga match, with both teams also gearing up for their Champions

League quarter-final ties. Ancelotti expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to manage the pressure, despite the

busy schedule. “We are aware that every match counts, especially against teams like Valencia, who are performing well,” he said.

As for injuries, Ancelotti confirmed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is recovering from a muscle injury and is

expected to return for the Champions League match against Arsenal. Meanwhile, second-choice goalkeeper Andriy

Lunin remains doubtful for the Valencia match, with Ancelotti prepared to rely on 19-year-old Fran Gonzalez if necessary.
