Anambra Governorship: Labour Party’s Muoghalu Says People, Not Power, Will Decide

Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the upcoming November 8, 2025 Anambra State election, Dr. George Muoghalu, has declared that he is unfazed by the challenge of the incumbency factor.

Speaking in Abuja during an interview, Muoghalu stated confidently that the people and not political power structures will ultimately decide the outcome of the election.

According to the former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, history has shown that even the strongest incumbents have been defeated at the polls. “It’s not about power or position; it’s about the will of the people. We’ve seen incumbents lose many times before. What matters is trust, track record, and our ability to connect with the people,” he said.

Muoghalu emphasized that his candidacy is rooted in transparency, vision, and faith. He described his emergence as Labour Party’s flagbearer as a product of divine timing and the support of delegates who believed in his leadership. “This is not about me, it’s about the people who, out of their free will, placed their future in my hands,” he added.

He pledged not to disappoint the party or the electorate, assuring voters of his commitment to deliver real transformation. “Hold me to my words. I’ll justify the confidence reposed in me. Give me the opportunity to serve, and you will not regret it,” Muoghalu appealed passionately.

Reflecting on his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to Labour Party, Muoghalu explained that while he cannot predict what might have happened had he remained in his former party, he believes he is now in the right place at the right time. “Power belongs to God. He gives it to whomever He wishes, and when the time is right,” he noted.

As the Anambra 2025 election draws closer, Muoghalu continues to build momentum, positioning himself as a candidate of the people rather than of political might. His message to Anambra residents is one of hope, renewal, and responsible leadership, a call to trust in ability over affiliation, and substance over status.
