The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered the Nigerian Army to flush out bandits from Kwara, setting a one-month deadline to eliminate the terrorist groups.
The directive aims to eliminate the criminal groups operating in the Kaiama and Baruten local government areas within a one-month deadline.
The army has been given a strict one-month deadline to eliminate the bandits and restore peace to the region.
Oluyede, during his visit to the state capital, Ilorin, addressed troops at Sobi Barracks, urging them to act swiftly and decisively to neutralize the threat.

He stressed the urgency of containing the bandits’ activities, as their presence in Kwara could destabilize the entire region. Oluyede made it clear that such criminal groups must be dealt with immediately to prevent them from spreading to other parts of the country.
“Within the next month, there should be no trace of these criminals in the affected areas,” Oluyede said. “We cannot afford to allow another terrorist group to gain a foothold here, as we have witnessed with Boko Haram in other regions.”
The COAS also reassured the troops that they would receive full federal support to carry out the operation, including the necessary logistics and tactical resources.
He expressed confidence in their ability to complete the mission successfully and restore security to the state.

In a statement to the press, Oluyede downplayed the situation in Kwara, describing it as an isolated case. He assured the public that the problem would not undermine the broader stability of Nigeria.
“This is a localized issue, and we will see substantial progress in driving the bandits out within the next month,” he affirmed.
This operation is part of Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to curb insecurity and combat the rising tide of terrorism. As the one-month deadline approaches, the nation is watching closely to see if the military can swiftly neutralize the bandit threat and secure Kwara.
