As the 2027 election draws closer, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been endorsed by the people of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District and the entire state as unopposed candidates for the 2027 elections, according to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, Akpabio made this announcement on Friday during the second round of his constituency empowerment programme, which saw over 3,000 people receive funds and projects.
The Senate President thanked Governor Umo Eno in a statement issued by his Media Office, saying, “I want to thank Governor Umo Eno because he is a man of peace.” In his demeanour and deeds, he is a man of God.
He said the Governor has been able to bring everyone together in Akwa Ibom, hence the peace in the state. He also hailed the governor as a man of his word.
The Senate President added that “President Tinubu is very happy with Akwa Ibom State because of the peace we enjoy, fostered by the collaboration between Governor Eno and the state government, which has led to development.”
When Akpabio suggested that the three be declared unchallenged candidates, the audience at the event unanimously supported the idea. When Akpabio put the proposal to a vote, the audience’s approval cemented the endorsement.
Minibuses, automobiles, tricycles, refrigerators, sewing machines, freight tricycles, and cash grants totalling more than N2 billion were among the many goods that Akpabio distributed at the ceremony. Additionally, beneficiaries and citizens from Akwa Ibom State’s other two senatorial districts received scholarships.
