Katsina State is one of the hotbeds of banditry which has led to scores of death, kidnappings, rape, and inability of farmers to farm needed food.
The Katsina government is proposing peace talks with bandits. A notorious bandit, Ado Aleru, who was declared wanted by Nigerian security agencies, resurfaced at a peace meeting held in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. This sparked widespread outrage and concern among Nigerians.
The notorious Ado Aleru gave conditions for peace in Katsina. Many locals fear his involvement in the peaces talks may not truly yield any peace of justice is not done against such a character.
However, the Katsina State Government has announced plans to open literacy classes for repentant bandits in the state, as part of efforts to reintegrate them into the society.
