Ose Anenih has publicly faulted the Presidency over what he called a false narrative about his father.
He described the presidency account of Tony Anenih and June 12 as both misleading and deeply disrespectful to history.
Ose stated clearly that Tony Anenih and June 12 cannot be separated from Nigeria’s long battle for democracy.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga had earlier accused Tony Anenih of surrendering Abiola’s mandate without any form of resistance.
Ose replied, calling the accusations ignorant and said they dishonour his father’s record during Nigeria’s democratic struggles.
He reminded Nigerians that Tony Anenih directly confronted Abiola when he returned from exile after the election annulment.
Ose said his father accused Abiola of abandoning the party and its supporters at the height of military crackdown.
He insisted that Tony Anenih and June 12 symbolise a legacy of courage, not betrayal as the presidency claimed.
Ose condemned the administration’s focus on historical distortions instead of addressing the real challenges currently facing the country.
He expressed disappointment that President Tinubu allowed such a divisive statement to be issued in his official capacity.
According to him, smearing the dead through government channels dishonours the office of the President of the Federal Republic.
Ose called the narrative a political low point, especially considering it came during national mourning for terror victims.
He urged the presidency to focus on healing the nation rather than revising old history to score cheap political points.
Ose concluded by defending his father’s honour, saying truth will always outlive lies crafted in political desperation.
