It was a week of accolades for Julius Berger, Nigeria’s leading engineering construction company, as it received two prestigious awards last week. Transport Day, a respected newspaper in Transport Management, named Julius Berger the Construction Company of the Year, while Champion Newspapers awarded the company for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in 2023.
During the 10th Transport Day Award ceremony held at Radisson Blu in Ikeja, Lagos, Mr. Frank Kintum, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, highlighted the thorough evaluation process conducted by the newspaper’s editors and correspondents nationwide before selecting Julius Berger for the Construction Company of the Year award. The audience applauded as he praised Transport Day for its credibility and recognized Julius Berger’s outstanding work.
Mr. Christl Thomas, the Project Manager, Technical, Region West, received the Construction Company of the Year Award on behalf of Julius Berger and expressed gratitude for the honor.
In another event, Champion Newspaper Limited awarded Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for its Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility. Dr. Mrs. Nwaduito Iheakanwa, the Group Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, commended Julius Berger for its commitment to CSR initiatives, particularly in the educational sector and support for underprivileged communities across Nigeria.
The awards ceremony was attended by stakeholders in the transport sector and prominent figures from the media industry. The event also featured the 10th Nigeria Transport Lecture discussing “Transportation Safety in Nigeria: The Way Forward.”
Julius Berger’s efforts in corporate social responsibility were acknowledged by Champion Newspaper for its positive impact on host communities and orphanages nationwide. The company’s dedication to educational development and sports initiatives was applauded, emphasizing the importance of contributing to the nation’s socio-economic growth.
Mrs. Shakira Mustapha, the Chief Risk Officer of Julius Berger, accepted the Excellence in CSR Award on behalf of the company, promising to continue its impactful CSR initiatives for the benefit of society. Eminent personalities such as Gen. Buba Marwa, executives from Zenith and UBA banks, deputy governors, and former governors graced the occasion, showcasing the significance of the awards in recognizing exceptional contributions to society.
