The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply condemned President Tinubu for his unexplained disappearance after BRICS after the BRICS summit.
President Tinubu returned to Nigeria five days after the 2025 BRICS Summit in Brazil, without any public explanation.
ADC’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, challenged Tinubu to explain where he had been since Monday, July 7.
He noted that all other world leaders returned home promptly, while Tinubu vanished from public view for days.
Abdullahi emphasised that five days matter, especially with Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and an economy in distress.
He stressed that the President was on official duty, not vacation, and Nigerians deserve full accountability.
Tinubu disappearance after BRICS is not the first, as ADC cited multiple past instances of unexplained absences.
In January 2024, Tinubu’s Paris “private visit” became a two-week disappearance without photos, updates, or formal communication.
In April 2024, Tinubu vanished again for nine days after attending the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.
Another Tinubu disappearance after BRICS-style trip occurred in August 2024, following meetings in China and Dubai.
Abdullahi condemned these patterns of silence, stating they foster unhealthy rumours and undermine national stability.
“A leader who disappears without explanation cannot ask struggling citizens to trust or sacrifice for his vision,” he said.
He added that Tinubu disappearance after BRICS trip reflects “a contempt for public accountability and institutional responsibility.”
ADC warned that presidential silence breeds speculation, weakens democracy, and erodes public confidence in government.
They concluded by urging Tinubu to respect Nigerians enough to provide honest updates during international assignments.
Abdullahi insisted that citizens deserve clarity, not excuses, when the President leaves the country on public business.
He called on the APC to stop dismissing serious concerns with weak justifications and arrogant silence.
