Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola: A Love Story That Traveled Three Continents
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsappShare on EmailShare on Telegram

When Afrobeats hitmaker Mr Eazi (Oluwatosin Ajibade) chose to marry actress and influencer Temi Otedola, the daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, it was never going to be a small affair. What began as a quiet romance in London blossomed into a global love story. Their love story  stretched from Venice to Dubai and then Iceland, mixing intimacy with spectacle, tradition with celebrity, and private vows with public theatre.

Their paths first crossed in London in 2017. Accounts differ on whether it was a casual family introduction or a chance encounter at a music event where Temi’s sister performed. Whatever the case, a friendship took root. Over the years, that bond deepened into romance, visible to the public through podcast conversations, social media snapshots, and creative collaborations. Unlike many celebrity couples, they allowed fans to glimpse their journey without surrendering control of their narrative.

If their meeting felt cinematic, the proposal was literal theatre. In Venice, during the filming of Mr Eazi’s music video for Legalize, he bent the knee. The proposal, captured on camera, blurred the line between artistic project and life milestone. It was later shared publicly, offering fans both a music video and a love story in one frame. In April 2022, the couple officially announced their engagement, setting in motion three years of careful planning.

Three Weddings, Three Worlds

By 2025, the couple unveiled their bold vision: three ceremonies across three continents, each reflecting a layer of their lives.

  • Monaco, May 9, 2025: The Riviera hosted their civil wedding at Villa La Vigie. The date, chosen to honour Mr Eazi’s late mother’s birthday, gave the intimate event deep personal resonance. Fashion-forward but restrained, it served as the legal foundation for what was to come.
  • Dubai, July 2025: At the Otedola family’s residence, the couple staged a traditional Yoruba wedding rich with music, cuisine, and cultural ritual. Outfits from Lisa Folawiyo and Zac Posen, performances by King Sunny Adé, and Yoruba rites fused Nigerian heritage with international opulence.
  • Iceland, August 2025: For their white wedding, they chose Iceland’s stark beauty as backdrop. Hallgrímskirkja hosted the service; a glass-tent reception unfolded against volcanic landscapes. Guests soaked in geothermal springs and were treated to a surprise serenade by John Legend. Fashion houses Fendi and couture designers turned the event into a living fashion editorial.

More Than a Wedding

Guests were not merely witnesses but part of a power tableau. Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, gave a toast praising Mr Eazi’s entrepreneurial ventures across the continent. His presence underscored how this union was more than romance: it symbolised the convergence of celebrity culture, new money, and old-money influence.

The three-part celebration was as strategic as it was sentimental. It honoured legal duty, cultural heritage, and personal aesthetic, a carefully curated balance that spoke to different audiences: family, fans, and global networks.

A New Template for Celebrity Unions

This marriage is emblematic of how modern African celebrities approach private milestones. It was love, certainly, but also production: a sequence of cultural moments broadcast to a global stage. Temi and Mr Eazi have shown that weddings, like albums or films, can be both deeply personal and powerfully performative.

At its core, though, the Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola love story is simple: two people who met, loved, and committed. The rest: the cameras, the couture, the continents are the flourishes of a generation redefining what it means to be in love under the spotlight.
