The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that more APC governors will join Tinubu before the 2027 general elections. He said this movement will boost the president’s re-election campaign and secure overwhelming victory for the ruling party.
Yilwatda, represented by Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, made this known on Tuesday during the APC’s 12th Expanded Stakeholders’ Meeting in Bayelsa State. The gathering also formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential race.
According to Yilwatda, more senators, House of Representatives members, and state governors are preparing to defect. He explained that Tinubu’s governance model, integrity, and performance had inspired confidence across different regions of the country.
“Our doors are still open. More governors are moving into our party, and more lawmakers are also joining because of the calibre, integrity, and output of the president,” he said.
He specifically commended South-South governors for what he described as “political maturity” in embracing the APC. Their defections, he said, showed strong confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.
“Because of what they saw in Mr President, they abandoned their political parties to join our great party. From the South-South to the South-East, leaders are making the same choice because they want a greater Nigeria,” Yilwatda added.
The APC chairman praised Tinubu for his courage and results-driven governance. He said Tinubu was tackling challenges other leaders avoided.
“This president is not afraid. He takes the bull by the horns. What others could not do, he has done,” he said.
With more APC governors joining Tinubu, Yilwatda expressed confidence that the ruling party would secure a resounding victory in 2027.
