Anderson Akaliro, the member representing Umuahia North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has resigned his membership of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Akaliro said he would be aligning with Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
Akaliro was the only APC lawmaker in the Assembly, however, he made disclosed his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the APC chairman of Umuahia North LGA.
He cited persistent internal crises, factional disputes and a lack of cohesive leadership within the APC as part of the reasons why he dumped the party.
The lawmaker also alleged that he was marginalised and excluded from party activities.
The Umuahia North representative further said he was not being invited to any meeting or event by the APC leadership in Abia, even as he faulted what he called continuous suspension and counter suspensions in the party.
He declared that he would be aligning with Governor Alex Otti’s administration, which he described as “visionary and development-oriented.”
