A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adetokunbo Pearse, has blasted the National Assembly, accusing it of neglecting its constitutional duties and serving only the interests of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Pearse made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television, where he stated that the National Assembly has become a rubber-stamp legislature that complies with the president’s every demand.
“The National Assembly we have today is a rubber stamp one. The president gets whatever he wants. Any president who wants to manipulate the National Assembly can do so.
“And this one is actually manipulating it to the best of his own ability and to the detriment of progress for Nigerians and security for Nigerians,” he said.
He further criticised the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, emphasising that he is unfit to lead the legislature.
“Akpabio should not be president of the Senate. He’s a criminal, he shouldn’t be there. He has cases in the EFCC, millions that he stole when he was governor,” he said.
