A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, has stated that President Bola Tinubu has the capacity to drive the process that would lead to the emergence of a new constitution acceptable to Nigerians.
Agbakoba made this statement on Friday when he appeared as a guest on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
He said with the availability of resources, Tinubu can give Nigerians a new constitution within six months.
According to him, the office of the President wields enormous power, which does not promote the needed development in the states; hence, the need for devolution of powers.
“President Tinubu is the only person who has the capacity to drive a new constitutional process and can give Nigerians one within six months, as the National Assembly has taken too long to provide a solution,” he said.
Agbakoba, while speaking on the arrest of human rights activist Omoyele Sowore following the recent protest over the call for the release of the self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, commended Sowore for his activism.
