Former Anambra State governor Chris Ngige is now in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. His former media aide, Fred Chukwuelobe, confirmed the development on Wednesday night.
Chukwuelobe addressed the growing rumours online. Many social media posts claimed that unknown men had kidnapped the former minister. He dismissed the reports and urged the public to ignore them.
He said, “Dr. Chris Ngige is with the EFCC in Abuja. He was not kidnapped. More details will follow.”
Ngige made news recently after armed men attacked his convoy in Anambra State. The attack happened along the Nkpor–Nnobi road. One person died in the incident, but Ngige was not inside the vehicle at the time.
