Edo State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary Election Committee, Monday Okpebholo, has urged party members in Osun State to close ranks and work together to reclaim the state in the 2026 governorship election.
Okpebholo made the call on Friday night during a stakeholders’ meeting at the APC secretariat in Osogbo. According to him, the gathering highlighted the party’s commitment to unity and internal democracy ahead of Saturday’s primary election.
Speaking further, Okpebholo announced that the party would adopt the affirmation method for the primary. He explained that all 1,660 delegates would first undergo proper accreditation before gaining access to the venue. This process, he said, would ensure transparency and fairness.
Meanwhile, the governor cautioned party members against post-primary disputes, warning that internal divisions could weaken the APC’s chances in the general election. Instead, he urged aspirants and their supporters to put the party’s interest above personal ambitions.
“I appeal to everyone to remain united after the primary,” Okpebholo said. “Do not allow grievances to undermine our collective effort.”
Ultimately, he stressed that reclaiming Osun State in 2026 remains the party’s shared objective. According to him, only unity and cooperation can guarantee victory for the APC.
“Our collective goal is to return Osun State to the progressive family in 2026,” he added. “However, we can only achieve this if we work together as one.”
