Residents of Jabo village in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State are still in fear following a recent airstrike carried out by the United States in collaboration with the Nigerian government, despite continued security patrols in the area.
A resident of the village, Shamsu Isah Yari, who witnessed the incident, told reporters that the community has not fully regained peace of mind since the explosion.
“We normally do not have serious problems here. There was some tension some time ago, but things had calmed down.
‘In fact, internally displaced persons from other villages usually come here for refuge. Then suddenly, on the night before last, we heard a loud explosion,” he said
Another youth in the community, Muhammad Sani Jabo, described the experience as terrifying, adding that many residents were confused about what had happened.
“Honestly, it was very frightening. Some people even thought it was a nuclear bomb because of the level of destruction and confusion. We are appealing to the government to strengthen security in this area,” he said
Reports indicate that the Lakurawa terrorist group has been terrorising Jabo and surrounding communities, particularly during the rainy season.
